After traveling to 3 states and 4 cities in the last 30 days, I'm excited to finally spend some time sharing the next edition of Adition. This is something I've always wanted to write about but wasn't sure how to put it forth.
During those travels, something kept happening that made me realize how fundamentally AI has changed the way I think, but today I share it from a perspective of a product builder.
Seeing the world as “prompts”
Every time I encountered a new app, website, or digital product, my brain automatically started reverse engineering the prompts and references the builders probably used. Like Neo seeing the Matrix in green code, I couldn't turn off this new lens.
It's fascinating. And slightly terrifying.
The Superman Moment
For nearly a decade, I've been building side projects using NoCode tools. No developer bias, no technical constraints. Just ideas becoming reality through drag and drop interfaces.
But AI changed the game entirely.
Vibe coding gave me capabilities I never had. The right prompts and commands can turn concepts into functional products in hours, not months.
The power is intoxicating. You will see the limitless possibilities to bring your ideas to life as a product, even if it is in its barebones version.
The Matrix Perspective
Here's what's unsettling: my mind instinctively analyzes every new product through an AI lens.
"What prompts created this interface?"
"Which references guided this design?"
"How much of this is human creativity versus AI output?"
This isn't conscious analysis anymore. It's become my default way of processing innovation and originality.
The Critical Question
Are you directing AI to work the way you want, or are you outsourcing your thinking to it?
The difference determines whether AI amplifies your capabilities or replaces your judgment.
The Spectrum of AI Dependency
AI as Tool: You define the problem, AI helps execute the solution
AI as Partner: You collaborate on both problem definition and solution
AI as Replacement: AI defines problems and provides solutions you accept
Most people slide toward replacement without realizing it.

Prompt Dependency: Can't start without asking AI what to do first
Solution Acceptance: Taking AI suggestions without critical evaluation

Yes, you still need product sense and design intuition. AI doesn't replace strategic thinking or user empathy.
But the barrier to testing ideas has virtually disappeared. The question isn't whether you can build it. It's whether you should.

This extends far beyond product building:
Content Creation: Are you enhancing your voice or replacing it? Decision Making: Are you getting better inputs or outsourcing choices? Learning: Are you understanding concepts or just getting answers? Problem Solving: Are you thinking through issues or delegating them?
Your Reflection Framework
Before using AI for any significant task:
What specific outcome am I trying to achieve?
What's my hypothesis about the best approach?
How will I evaluate AI's suggestions against my judgment?
What would I do if AI wasn't available?
The Bottom Line
AI's power to accelerate execution is unprecedented. But acceleration without direction leads to impressive solutions for the wrong problems.
The professionals thriving with AI aren't those who use it most. They're those who maintain the clearest distinction between AI assistance and human judgment.
The goal isn't to avoid AI dependency. It's to ensure AI amplifies your thinking rather than replacing it.
